Export of agricultural, forest, and aquatic products in the first half of 2022

1. Overview

According to a report of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the export turnover of agricultural, forestry, and aquatic products in June 2022 was estimated to reach 5.18 billion USD, contributing to the total export value of 27.88 billion USD in the first half of 2022, increasing by 13.9% compared with the same period in 2021. Of which, the export value of main agricultural products is estimated at 11.37 billion USD, increasing by 8.8%, the export value of aquatic products is estimated at 5.8 billion USD, increasing by 40.8%, and the export value of forest products is estimated at 9.1 billion USD, increasing by 3%, the export value of production inputs is estimated at 1.42 billion USD, increasing by 64.8%, salt export value is estimated at 2.7 million USD, increasing by 78.8%.

 

The total export values of agricultural, forest and aquatic products in the first half of 2022 of  Viet Nam to the Asian, American, European, Oceanian markets are estimated to reach 11.72 billion USD (increased by 14.5%), 8.29 billion USD (increased by 9.5%), 3.38 billion USD (increased by 25.5%) and 477 million USD (increased by 28.8%) respectively. Particularly, the value of those products exported to the African market is estimated to reach 426 million USD, decreased by 7.8%. The market shares of Asia, America, Europe, Oceania, and Africa in the total export value of the agricultural, forest, and aquatic products of Viet Nam in the half of 2022 are 42%; 29.7%; 12.1%; 1.7%, and 1.5% respectively.

In the first half of 2022, the United States, China, and Japan are the 3 largest export markets for agricultural, forest, and aquatic products of Viet Nam. The value of the goods exported to the US, Chinese and Japanese markets accounted for 27.3%, 17.8%, 7.1% and increased by 7.9%, 5.9% and 18.58% respectively.

 

2. Export of key products:

- Coffee: The quantity of coffee exported in June 2022 is estimated at 145 thousand tons with a value of 335 million USD, increasing the volume and value of coffee exported in the first half of 2022 to 1.03 million tons and 2.32 billion USD, increasing by 21.7% in volume and 49.7% in value compared to the same period in 2021.

- Rubber: The quantity of rubber exported in June 2022 is estimated at 180 thousand tons with a value of 297 million USD, increasing the volume and value of rubber exported in the first half of 2022 to 779 thousand tons and 1.35 billion USD, increasing by 9.2% in volume and 12.2% in value compared to the same period in 2021.

- Tea: The quantity of tea exported in June 2022 is estimated at 13 thousand tons with a value of 24 million USD, increasing the volume and value of tea exported in the first half of 2022 to 54 thousand tons and 94 million USD, decreasing by 6.4% in volume and 1.3% in value compared to the same period in 2021.

- Rice: The quantity of rice exported in June 2022 is estimated at 750 thousand tons with a value of 370 million USD, increasing the volume and value of rice exported in the first half of 2022 to 3.52 million tons and 1.72 billion USD, increasing by16.2% in volume and 4.6% in value compared to the same period in 2021.

- Vegetables: The value of vegetables exported in June 2022 is estimated at 250 million USD, increasing the value of vegetables exported in the first half of 2022 to 1.68 billion USD, decreasing by 17.2% compared to the same period in 2021.

- Cashew nuts: The quantity of cashew nuts exported in June 2022 is estimated at 50 thousand tons with a value of 307 million USD, increasing the volume and value of cashew nuts exported in the first half of 2022 to 253 thousand tons and 1.52 billion USD, decreasing by 7.8% in volume and value compared to the same period in 2021.

- Pepper: The quantity of pepper exported in June 2022 is estimated at 25 thousand tons with a value of 106 million USD, increasing the volume and value of pepper exported in the first half of 2022 to 125 thousand tons and 566 million USD, decreasing by 19.1% in volume but increasing by 14% in value compared to the same period in 2021.

- Cassava and cassava products: The quantity of cassava and cassava products exported in June 2022 is estimated at 350 thousand tons with a value of 152 million USD, increasing the volume and value of cassava and cassava products exported in the first half of 2022 to 1.8 million tons and 783 million USD, increasing by 13.2% in volume, and 28% in value compared to the same period in 2021.

- Products obtained from animal husbandry: The value of products obtained from animal husbandry exported in June 2022 is estimated at 34.8 million USD, increasing the volume and value of products obtained from animal husbandry exported in the first half of 2022 to 176 million USD, decreasing by 15.9% compared to the same period in 2021. The value of exported milk and dairy products reached 56.4 million USD, decreasing by 1.5%; the export value of meat and offal and other edible by-products obtained from the slaughter process reached 45.5 million USD, decreasing by 13.5%.

- Aquatic products: The value of aquatic products exported in June 2022 is estimated at 1.1 billion USD, increasing the volume and value of aquatic products exported in the first half of 2022 to 5.81 billion USD, increasing by 40.8% compared to the same period in 2021. The United States, China, and Japan are the 3 biggest importers of aquatic products of Viet Nam.

- Wood and wood products: The value of wood and wood products exported in June 2022 is estimated at 1.5 billion USD, increasing the volume and value of wood and wood products exported in the first half of 2022 to 8.49 billion USD, increasing by 2.8% compared to the same period in 2021.
